Union Springs overflows with history and beauty.  We claim some of the finest old homes in Alabama.  Take a virtual tour and find out for yourself.  Some of these homes are often open to the public as part of our annual Chunnenuggee Fair, held the first Saturday in May, and again during various Christmas celebrations.

The Bird Dog Field Trial Monument stands on Prairie Street, honoring Bullock County members of the Field Trial Hall of Fame.  We also work to preserve the 1897 Pauly Jail Museum, the oldest surviving jail in the state, and one of a very few relics of it's kind which gives us a glimpse of the darker side of the past.

Bullock County offers many parks and fishing lakes for outdoor recreation.  Our finest and newest park, the Wehle Nature Center offers 25-acres of hiking trails and opportunities to learn about conservation and the environment.

Our site also offers information on annual festivals held in our area.  Annual events include the Chunnenuggee Fair (May), Veterans Day (November) and the Field Trials (November to March).  The largest amateur dog trial in the nation is held each February at Sedgefield Plantation.  For more information, check our Calendar of Events.

The central Alabama climate is excellent for year 'round outdoor Recreation.  Bullock County has some of the best hunting and fishing in the South.  Quail, dove, fox, turkey and deer are harvested.  Fishing nearby lakes has produced record catches of bass, bream and catfish.
